Loans : PPCB to
promote agri, auxiliary segments
LAHORE-Punjab Provincial Cooperative Bank has made an action
plan to provide services to promote agriculture and auxiliary
sectors.
According to bank sources here Tuesday, the PPCB aims to
increase its credit disbursement target as compared to
previous years, and expand its business for survival, by
taking certain positive measures. The bank will provide loan
on 15 per cent mark up under the revised loan policy of State
Bank of Pakistan.
In addition to its short-term, medium-term and long-term
seasonal and production agricultural loans, PPCB will now also
offer finance for dairy, poultry, fish farming, semi
-industrial and indigenous goods, cottage industry and
computer purchase with a view to promoting information
technology. It will also offer gold loans and loans for
purchase of computers. Loans for the purchase of computer will
be given to banks, government employees, women and retired
servicemen.
The action plan aims at uplift and strengthening of small
farmers in the agricultural sector, to alleviate poverty and
help bring about a revolution in Information Technology.
A sum of Rs 200 million has been earmarked to achieve this
objective. In the first phase, financing will cover working
men and women for the purchase of computers for updating I
tech disciplines.
The scheme also covers retired employees, to help women set up
small enterprises like beauty parlours, general stores, cloth
shops, bakeries etc. For the rural sector loans would help
purchase poultry and livestock, as well as knitting and sewing
machines through cooperative societies.
