Meeting approves draft Agricultural Policy

QUETTA-A high level meeting held here Saturday (Nov 10) under the chairmanship of Balochistan Governor Justice (R) Amirul Mulk Mengal considered and approved the draft of Agriculture Policy for the province.

Briefing the meeting Provincial Secretary for Agriculture Raja Ahsan said that under the new policy, water management would be made better, agriculture-related industries and cultivation of cotton would be encouraged and system relating to cultivation of different crops would be changed and improved.

He said the number of reseach institutes would be increased and provision of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and agricultural loan to the farmers would be ensured. He apprised the meeting that the Federal Government has approved a scheme of Rs.60.5 million to improve the production of crops in the province. While in another scheme it has approved Rs. 46 million for agricultural research and extention.

Addressing the meeting the Governor stressed on further improvement of Agriculture and directed the concerned officials to speed up the pace of implementation of agricultural schemes. Provincial Minister for Agriculture Sardar Sadaat Ali and other concerned officials attended the meeting.
