Timely rains are blessing of Almighty Allah

Lahore-Secretary General, Chamber of Agriculture Punjab, has said that due to timely rains, there are greater possibilities of bumper ugarcane crop and Inshallah the country would be surplus in sugar production and the Government should consider exporting sugar next year.

He said this while attending a corner meeting at Kamalia by the sugarcane growers at the residence of Numberdar Maulvi Faiz Rasool, the farmers said that they have not seen such healthy sugarcane crop since many years which was due to drought and closure of canal water during the sowing season of the sugarcane crop. The sugarcane growers said that sugarcane acreage would have doubled if the Government has not closed the irrigation canals and if it had been extra sown would have brought yields at par with the present cane crop. Timely rains are blessing from the Almighty Allah. The farmers also said that government should issue instructions to the  commercial banks to issue agricultural loans to the farmers on sugar mills guarantee this has been the policy during Prime Minister Muhammad Khan Junejo governments, as this would help the farmers in improving per acre yield with timely use of agriculture inputs.
