Chaniho
discusses agri, livestock, fisheries projects with HC New
Zealand
KARACHI-Various short
term projects for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries sector
came under discussion at a meeting between Provincial
Agriculture Minister, Hasan Ali Chaniho and Mr Warwick Hawker,
High Commissioner of New Zealand, who met him at his office
here on August 7, 2001.
The project will be implemented under New Zealand Development
Plan. Under the plan New Zealand will extend assistance in
survey of resources in the field of the Agriculture, Livestock
and Fisheries sector and their exploitation.
Hasan Ali Chaniho hoped that under the short term project, not
only the fisheries community will be benefitted but also
generate employment and provide a boost to exports.
On the occasion a committee was set up, headed by Secretary
Agriculture, which will coordinate with the Honorary Consul
General of New Zealand at Karachi to discuss and finalize the
projects.
Mr Warwick informed the Sindh Agriculture Minister that New
Zealand can provide a modern communication system for fishing
boats in Pakistan.
Also present at the meeting were Secretary Agriculture, Abdul
Rasheed Memon, Additional Secretary, Amjad Ali Shaikh, DG
Livestock and Fisheries, Dr Ghulam Muhammed Memon, Chairman
Karachi Fish Harbour, Commodore Tayyab Naqvi.
Mr Warwick was accompanied by M. Aijaz Khan, Country Manager,
Newzealand Trade Development Board, Fazl-e-Matin Qureshi,
Chief Executive Management Information System and other
officials.
