Good cotton crop expeted this year

Lahore-Kissan Board Pakistan (KBP), while experting good cotton crop this year has asked the government to adopt effective measures for ensuring the proper price of commodity to the cotton growers.

Muhammad Sadiq Khan Khakwani, President KBP said that increased in cotton sowing area and satisfactory crop condition provie that there would be good production of cotton this year.

At a time, when the international prices are showing downward trend and good cotton crop is also expected in China, India and Australia, the production of surplus cotton in the country could create a crisis like situation in the country , which would be similar to cotton crisis emerged during Nawaz regime'.

He demanded of the government to announced schedule for the cotton purchase operation by the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP).

He was of the view that redit limit provided to the giners must be rationalised in a way that they could not hoard cotton for long time.
